Clutter could be preventing you from
living your life to its fullest!
Spring has most certainly sprung in my part of the world. Asturias is known as the Costa Verde – the Green Coast. And this is the time of year when the winter rains give way to glorious sunshine. It’s also when one’s focus shifts from the home to the land. All around you see people preparing their gardens and tending their pastures.
I myself emerged to do battle with an overgrown patch of land between the house, the barn and the granary (a uniquely Asturian building used to store grain, corn and potatoes). At one time this parcel of land had served as the kitchen garden, but the days of leeks and lettuce had long since gone. And somewhere along the way it had even become a dumping ground for just about anything and everything the previous owners didn’t want.
And as I removed all the weeds, brambles and general debris, I began to feel how much more freely the energy was flowing around my house, around the granary and down to the barn. I uncovered a lovely rock wall and several beautiful features in the landscape I hadn’t known existed. But more than this, I detected a lovely sense of calm. It was as if the land could once again breathe. Even my sheep seemed to benefit from my efforts. I found myself asking:
Isn’t it time we all cleared our clutter?
You might say that I was applying Feng Shui to my overgrown garden. And in essence, I was. Don’t forget that in its simplest form, Feng Shui is all about maximising the flow of energy in a particular space to enhance our lives. It’s about trying to foster a sense of balance and harmony such that we can appreciate actual benefits.
Now I must admit that I don’t consider myself an expert in Feng Shui. However, I do know how to work with energy and its effects on people and places. As an experienced psychic and intuitive, I have honed my ability to sense energy, meaning I can see, feel, hear, smell and taste it. I intuitively perceive where and how it flows. Sometimes it flows freely and other times it becomes blocked. These energy blocks are more often than not created by clutter.
The Oxford Dictionary of English defines clutter as a ‘collection of things lying about in an untidy mess’. But perhaps the word’s origin reveals even more because it actually derives from a late Middle English word for ‘clot’. And energetically speaking, that’s exactly what clutter does – to you, your home and your life!
Clutter prevents the natural and smooth flow of energy. It causes it to become stuck and to stagnate. And clutter attracts clutter. There’s this meadow I pass on the way to a nearby town. It was lovely and green until one day someone dumped a sack of rubbish. The next time I passed a disused mattress had joined that sack. And before the week was out it was as if a new dump had been established. (Thankfully, the local council took corrective steps, in the nick of time I may add, to liberate the meadow.)
That’s how clutter works. It snowballs. As such, it also has a tendency to sneak up on you. So we have to be vigilant. But how do you know if you suffer from clutter?
I have come to the conclusion that clutter first appears as a warning sign. It’s an indication or a symptom that something isn’t working in our lives. But instead of dealing with it, we tend to find it easier to ignore it. That’s when the sign that there’s a problem becomes a problem in and of itself. In other words, clutter appears because of an energy block and then becomes a block itself.
Take a good look around you and ask yourself these questions:
- Do you see things that you no longer use, or even like?
- Do you ever put something away and not be able to find it later?
- Are you living in disarray or a state of dishevelment?
- Do you simply have too many things for the space you are living in?
- Is there evidence in your life of things you started but never got round to finishing?
- Does your life feel out of control?
If you answered yes to even one of these questions, then it’s a good bet you suffer from clutter in your life. So how do you get the energy flowing again and your life back on track? Well, the good news is that you have the power to declutter your life. And the even better news is that it’s a type of change that can happen instantly. Remember that because we are dealing with energy, the flow resumes once the blockage is removed – much like a drain.
In my practice as a psychic and intuitive, I work with clients from all walks of life. They are about as diverse a lot as you can imagine.
