Today's psychics use all the latest technologies!

A friend of mine recently shared a story about his mother. When he was growing up, he said that he remembered his mother meeting up with friends and people in the neighbourhood. She would go to them or they would come to her – it was always which was more convenient for them.

It wasn’t until years later that he fully understood the purpose of those visits – although he lived nearby. She’d always give him a wink and a smile just before beginning what she called one of her special little chats or therapy. From his point of view they were one and the same – because for both she’d sit opposite the other person and speak softly. They’d ask questions and she’d reply. These days he gets it. Special little chat was a psychic reading and therapy was healing.

That account is not only sweet but it illustrates how times have changed for psychics and healers. Of course, I should probably be more specific and observe how the times have changed for most of us. You see, I would imagine that there is still a local woman giving special little chats and therapy in my tiny village in Asturias. But that is an exception. These days psychics connect with their clients using all the latest technologies and so I found myself wondering:

Are we better or worse off with high-tech psychics?

When it comes to technology, you could hardly use the word savvy to most psychics. I remember when using a telephone was as about as cutting edge as they got when it came to readings. But perhaps it wasn’t theirs to lead the way. Perhaps the psychic is about responding – whether it’s to spirit or to the needs of those they read for.

The village life I observe on a daily basis here in Asturias is somewhat of an anachronism. Some of the houses only recently got running water and telephones remain down-the-road luxuries. You see, they still collect their eggs in the morning and walk about with jugs of warm frothy milk. So any mention of the internet and you see them scratch their heads and mutter to themselves ¿Que?

It’s a refreshing way of life and I’m learning to appreciate the return to basics. Of course, I can say that now, after a few nail-biting months awaiting my high-speed internet connection and satellite phone. Besides grounding me, my rural experiences serve to highlight just how much has changed in our world in general, but with psychics as well.

Gone are the days when you needed directions to find a psychic. Go down the road and turn left; it’s the third house on the right. With advancements in phone technology coupled with low calling rates, all you had to do to connect with a psychic was to let your fingers do the walking. Then came the internet and the possibility of email readings.

Naturally, the pace of technological advancement hasn’t slowed. If anything, it’s increasing as we get to grips with the real implications of the internet. As I was an IT consultant in a previous professional life (see my biography page for more gruesome details), I do my best to ride this wave. So you might have seen the RSS logo on this site as well as at IntuitiveBridges. This is the latest way to stay up to date with your favourite sites. You don’t have to go them; they come to you. And get this – I’ve even heard of some psychics doing readings via video-conferencing over the web!

All this goes to show that psychics are now accepted as mainstream. We are here to stay. It also illustrates how integral readings and consultations have become in our lives. Getting a reading is only a few clicks away – so there’s no reason why you cannot get the kind of insight and guidance you need when you need it and how you need it. (Sound familiar?
