Scientists make their cloak of invisibility
and now you can make your own!

This past week the work being carried out in a laboratory in the US State of North Carolina managed to capture the attention of many who don’t normally follow the latest developments in an area of science known as nanotechnology with three words: cloak of invisibility.

The fact alone that scientists are working on such a topic would surprise many. But when you have serious engineers at a credible institution (Duke University) talking about a successful test of an invisibility cloak, well now you have the stuff that makes sensational headlines.

According to the researchers, a US-British team, they managed to hide a copper cylinder from microwaves by wrapping it in a so-called cloak of invisibility. Well, they almost hid it. And the cloak wasn’t a cloak in the traditional sense. But what they did do is both fascinating and intriguing – and it got me thinking.

The copper cylinder, they have explained, was surrounded by 10 fibreglass rings covered by a revolutionary composite material that redirected microwaves aimed at it to make it appear as though they passed through the object itself – or as if the object weren’t there at all.

But the devil’s in the detail and the team have been quick to point out that the cylinder was not completely cloaked, that the cloak is more akin to a shed than an actual cloak and that at no time did the object vanish before their eyes. Nonetheless, it’s pretty exciting stuff especially when you learn that visible light waves have a lot in common with the microwaves they used during their tests.

It always fascinates me when the world of science and that of the psychic overlap. And that’s just what is happening here. Because, you see, psychics have been experimenting and developing their own cloaks of invisibility for hundreds if not thousands of years.

Ancient mystic writings refer to the ability of adepts to render themselves invisible to the naked eye. And invisibility is but one of the extraordinary (and documented) capabilities of the yogis. Even today many people practice techniques in making themselves invisible.

When I was studying at London’s prestigious College of Psychic Studies, one of my tutors taught me one such technique that is so easy that I can share it with you today. Better still after a few minutes of practice you can give it a go yourself.

Now let me be clear from the outset that unlike the ancient mystics or yogis, the technique I’ll describe to you won’t in fact enable you to vanish from sight. But what it does do is still very powerful – it will make you, and perhaps more accurately, your energy less noticeable to such a degree that those around you may not actually perceive your presence.

Step 1. Take some deep breaths and still your mind. If you’re anxious, worried or excited, it’s as if your energy functions as a giant megaphone shouting look at me!

Step 2. Picture yourself in your present surroundings wrapped in a purple cape or cloak – preferably one with a hood. The colour purple is important as it is the last colour of the spectrum of visible light and it is the colour associated with spirituality and psychic ability.

Step 3. Visualise yourself wrapped in your hooded cloak of purple and then feel yourself becoming smaller and smaller as you pull your energy closer to you and more securely under your cloak.

Step 4. Continue to picture yourself in your mind’s eye as being physically much smaller than normal (still wrapped in your purple cloak) as you go about your business whatever it might be.

Step 5. Then when you’re ready to rejoin those around you, simply imagine yourself taking off your cloak and allow your energy to flow naturally and freely as it normally does.

As I said earlier, you won’t actually be invisible. But with a bit of practice and perseverance you will be able to make your energy less perceptible as if you were blending into the background such that you might as well be invisible.

So the next time you see your ex when you hadn’t bothered to do your hair or put on any make-up, slip into your purple cloak of invisibility. You’ll be amazed at how well it works. But don’t forget to take it off. A friend of mine made just that mistake – you can imagine how hard it was for her to catch a taxi on the streets of central London!
