Palmistry — It’s ancient and accurate,
and it deserves more respect!
Of all the esoteric subjects, palmistry is probably the least understood and as such has an undeservedly bad reputation. Come on, admit it. If someone says that they read Tarot cards, most of you will admit that there’s something to it. But as soon as the P-word is mentioned, those same people will align themselves with the sceptics and all but dismiss it completely.
And that’s a real shame because when applied correctly by someone who is truly versed in the lines of the hand, palmistry can reveal with absolute accuracy someone’s character, personality, talents, needs, wants, fears and the state of their health. There are lines that show how someone thinks and even how they love. It’s all there – in our hands.
Did you know that Aristotle wrote a treatise on palmistry back in 350 BC? No, I didn’t think so. Moreover, I bet you didn’t know that bit by bit scientists are confirming what we palm readers have known for years. For example, researchers can tell how much athletic potential women have by the ratio of the finger length.
Additionally, similar studies have indicated that finger length in men has a bearing on their disposition to being aggressive. Further the University of London has studied the correlation between people’s palms and their predisposition to illness.
Palmistry is very scientific and it’s very complicated. To become skilled at it, like any detailed discipline, takes years of practice. There’s actually a lot more to it than just lines. There are the fingers, fingernails, flexibility, skin colour and texture, mounts, thumbs and even fingerprints. And then of course, the lines which form something like a road map in your hand.
The analogy to a road map is a good one. I’m frequently asked whether our lives are already mapped out in our hands. And to a certain extent they are. What our palms reveal is what has happened and what is happening in our lives at any one time. With a quick glance at a client’s hand, I can tell whether the client is getting enough sleep and whether there’s something in their environment to which they are allergic.
The lines will also tell me about their childhood – whether it was happy or traumatic. I can even see indicators of those who have been adopted and not raised by their biological parents. What’s not worked out in their lives shows up like neon flashing lights. But equally the successes and triumphs are also there.
It can sometimes be daunting when you try to understand the vast volume of information contained on our palms. And then, you also have to factor in that the palm is always changing. Some characteristics change by the minute and others, like the main lines, become re-etched over weeks and months.
To be sure, our palms reflect our lives. What our palms say about us evolves just as we evolve. The decisions we take, the lives we lead and the journey we’re on are all mirrored in the palm.
Because our palms reveal how we think and communicate, some employers have started consulting palmistry experts when hiring top-level executives. In London I consulted with more than one City firm regarding board candidates by assessing their hands.
And while it takes a thorough and methodical assessment to sift through all the facts that the palm has to offer, there’s much that can be assessed at a glance. For example, how many times have you been in the supermarket queue wondering whether the next one over would move faster? Well, next time try taking a peek at the cashier’s fingers. If they are long, then avoid that queue. If, however, they are short, then you’ll be fine.
People with long fingers tend to think about things for a long time. They are the analysts of our world. But those of us with short fingers are quick on the uptake and are, all things being equal, the first ones to finish a task.
I even admit that I sometimes take a sneaky look at the hands of a friend’s latest boyfriend or girlfriend. Nine times out of ten, from that alone, I can predict what the outcome is going to be and what, if any, the problems will be between them.
The practice of palmistry is simultaneously a science, a skill and an art. And it’s one of my passions. Because these days I’m doing more readings remotely, by email or telephone, I don’t usually have the opportunity to gain the insight that the palm has to reveal.
But if you are interested in having me read your palm, I am only too happy to do so. When you book a reading with me, you can add a palm reading as an extra. You’ll see it and how to do it on my readings page. And if you have any questions about getting your palms read or on palmistry in general, just contact me.
Our hands are living symbols of us. And they have been studied for thousands of years for the secrets that they hold. Let’s hope that today’s interest in palmistry can once and for all restore its credibility and standing.
