It's not all up to the psychic. You have a role to play in a reading!
Last week I looked at how to select a psychic. More and more we seem to hear about psychic scams or unscrupulous and dishonest people pretending to be psychic and preying on unsuspecting clients. What a psychic tells you can change your life – for better or for worse. And you owe it to yourself to make sure you are comfortable with the person reading for you. If you missed my article, you can get my Top 5 Tips to Ensure Your Psychic isn’t a Phoney by clicking here.
This week, however, I want to continue with the topic of how to get a good reading. You might think that just because you’ve found a good psychic that you are guaranteed a good reading. Think again. To be sure, even the best of psychics have what you might call off days. We are, after all, only human.
But this week, I want to turn the tables on you. I want to focus on you, as the client, and how you have a role in determining the quality of the reading you get. Despite what you might think, it’s not entirely down to the psychic. It’s not just about giving a good psychic reading. There’s more to being able to get a good psychic reading than you might think.
Psychic readings are creative in nature. And they involve and require the participation of all involved. Granted, the client’s role is more passive than the psychic’s. But that doesn’t mean it’s not as crucial in securing a good reading.
I gave my first psychic reading in 1978. Since then I’ve given more than 10,000 psychic readings. I have also received quite a few over the course of the years and so I know what it’s like being on the other side of the fence, so to speak. So based on my experience, I would like to offer my advice on how to get a good reading:
Alan’s Top 5 Tips for Getting a Good Psychic Reading
Tip #1. Know why you are going for a reading. Literally, stop and ask yourself the reason that’s behind you consulting a psychic. There will be a reason. Now such reasons are as wide-ranging and diverse as there are people in the world. Some are looking for specific insights into a relationship. Others want to know where they are going professionally. Still others need more general guidance about life simply because they feel out of the loop.
The reason isn’t actually all that important. The key piece, however, is to acknowledge that there is one and to know yourself well enough to identify it. This is so crucial because you need to prepare yourself for what might come through during the reading.
Tip #2. Prepare your questions in advance. Now that you know why you are seeking psychic insights, you can start working on your questions. When I was a trial lawyer, I would never go to court without having put quite a bit of thought and preparation into my questions. Similarly, I never go to see a psychic myself without having decided ahead of time what I’m going to ask.
Every psychic has a different approach to readings. Some ask for your questions up front – as I do with my Email Readings. Others, however, prepare to relay their psychic impressions first without any information from the client before taking questions. If I’ve ever read for you in person or on the telephone, you’ll know that’s the approach I favour in those circumstances.
But the fact is that a psychic reading is fast-paced and highly dynamic. Trust me, you will forget what you wanted to ask until your psychic says that you’re out of time. And that’s when it’s too late. Even if you don’t forget your questions, unless you’ve prepared them and thought about them I can guarantee you that you won’t end up asking them in a way that elicits the guidance you’re seeking.
Tip #3. Now that you know why you are going for a psychic reading and have prepared your questions, it’s time to consider how open you are to what your psychic may perceive. The more willing you are to receive genuine insights the more likely you will be drawn to a psychic to provide them.
Be careful of looking for a psychic who will tell you what you want to hear as opposed to what they are sensing. So, for example, if you find yourself going for reading after reading, you might want to ask yourself whether or not you are simply shopping around for the psychic to give you what you want – and perhaps not what you need.
Tip #4. My first three tips are for prior to the reading. My next two tips, however, are for during the reading itself. Tip #4 is to relax, take plenty of deep breaths and make sure you’re properly hydrated. As you may know, a psychic has to connect with your energy during a reading. If you are tense, anxious and distracted, this connection becomes difficult if not impossible to make.
When you go to the doctor, you don’t say that they can examine you here but not there. When you go to your lawyer, you don’t just give them just some of the facts. Similarly, when you go to your psychic, you don’t want to only allow them merely some of your energy. If you do, then don’t be surprised when you get only some of the answers you were seeking.
These days so many of us live with constant stress that we don’t automatically sense that we are stressed when we are. Research has shown that it’s physically impossible for us to remain tense and stressed when we inhale and exhale completely. So, a few deeper than normal breaths during the reading will help ensure that you are as relaxed as possible.
I bet my reference to being hydrated has made some of you scratch your heads. The reason is simple. Again, it has to do with energy. Water is a conductor and facilitates the flow of energy through the body and the aura. As such, it’s easier for a psychic to read for someone who’s properly hydrated than for one who isn’t. Also, the process of giving and receiving psychic readings is thirsty work.
Tip #5. My final tip is to be honest with your psychic. Some people like to try to test psychics by giving false or even half-true information to see if the person doing the reading can identify the lie. This just isn’t in anyone’s interests. As someone who’s had such readings, I can tell you that the psychic wants to believe you and will spend quite a bit of your valuable reading time trying to understand why what you’ve said doesn’t make any sense with what they’re perceiving. My advice is that if you feel the need to test your psychic, then you should probably take that as a sign that you need to find another psychic.
By following these tips you can ensure that you are doing your part to help you get the best reading your psychic has to offer. If you are considering a reading with me, you can find out about my range of readings here.
