Your Psychic Says... by Alan Bridges

Monday 5 May 2008

  Alan Bridges is PsychicBridges

The reading must always be about the client,
and never the psychic
!

Here's our topic — let's discuss in Psychic Chat!

Last week I began addressing a posting from a member of my Psychic Chat forums. In it, she posed such great questions that instead of addressing it in the forums, I decided to cover it here in my Weekly Insights column. This week I continue with my response.

Here’s the posting again in case you don’t recall it or missed it last week:

When you do a reading for someone, how much do your own prejudices, feelings and life experiences impact/affect the reading?

Do you find yourself saying something that you wouldn't feel was the correct thing to do, but your guide is saying that it is right for the person? If this is the case, do you then have mixed feelings about saying it? Do you find yourself wanting to qualify it in some way?

Also do you find yourself wanting/needing to use a phrase that for you either has no meaning or maybe embarrassing to say but which will mean something very specific to your client?

There’s so much to say here. I felt that to do it justice I should take each piece in turn. By addressing the role of a psychic’s own prejudices, I said in short that a psychic shouldn’t allow their own biases, prejudices and assumptions to affect the reading. The job of a professional psychic is to detach, step back and move into a place of objectivity or neutrality while reading for a client.

This week I will continue by expanding on my response. I first want to say a few more words about how exactly a psychic reads from a place of objectivity and neutrality. It’s easier said than done as some fellow psychics pointed out. Indeed others of you contacted me by email asking how this is done on a practical basis.

Everyone has heard the expression, “I just knew it in my gut.” This is a reference to our centre of intuition, which in fact lies in the abdominal region. This is the area of the third chakra. It’s our centre of self-esteem and self-respect. It’s where we derive our personal power in the outside world. It’s also where we sense or receive impressions about our surroundings.

When you walk into a room (actually even before you get there), your third chakra takes an energetic reading. You don’t need me to tell you this. You already know this. Think of the last time you walked into a room in which you knew that something was wrong. Ask yourself where you felt that impression. My money’s on you pointing to your stomach – because that’s where we receive that kind of information.

But psychics should never read for someone else from their third chakra. If they do, they’ll get tripped up. The third chakra is very personal. My third chakra is all about me; yours is all about you. If I’m in the energy of my third chakra, then I’m looking out for me and that’s not the best place to be if I’m trying to give you unbiased advice about what YOU need to do.

Apart from the third chakra, many natural, but untrained or undisciplined psychics read from their fourth chakra. This chakra is in the centre of your chest. That’s right, it’s where your heart is. While this might seem like a nice, warm, loving and compassionate place to read from, it will deceive you as well. The psychic who is reading from their fourth chakra will get very emotional during the reading. This isn’t good because instead of reading the client’s energy, the psychic will start to match the client’s psychological state.

So then, where should a psychic read from? To give a completely unbiased and neutral reading, a psychic should always be in the centre of their head. In other words, they should be reading from their sixth chakra. The information that comes through via this centre will be specific and pertinent to the client – and not the psychic.

Personally, the only time that I will consciously allow myself to slip out of my sixth chakra is when I sense that I was once in a very similar situation as my client. On a rare occasion I sense that our experiences were so alike that I will very quickly pop down to a lower chakra and recall what I went through. I do this in a very controlled manner and then immediately return to my sixth chakra to continue with the reading. Then it becomes clear why I needed to relive that moment and why it is relevant to that particular reading.

As for whether I say something during a reading that I wouldn’t normally say but for what I’m sensing, I try not to get into this level of analysis during the reading. If I do, then I’m engaging with the information at the risk of judging or filtering out what needs to come through.

In other words, I try to call it like I see it. Now that doesn’t mean that I cannot do that in a sensitive and compassionate way. Any good psychic can tune into the emotional and psychological state of their client and then make a call as to how directly or delicately the information should be delivered.

And regarding references to things that may be embarrassing or seemingly completely meaningless, well they can be the best bits for the client. For example, I was once reading for a lovely lady and I kept getting this image of her holding a cat’s tail — literally! Now nothing about this client would have suggested that she would be involved in any way with cruelty to animals. So, I made sure that I was still in my sixth chakra. I sought clarification and again I saw the same image.

I confessed to my client that I didn’t know why but for some reason I continued to see her holding a cat’s tail in her hand. It meant nothing to me. To her, however, it made complete sense. You see, I had connected to an incident in her past when her favourite pet was involved in very bad and traumatic accident.

For the client, it was proof that I was connected to her. So when I get an image or impression that seems inconsistent or absurd, I double-check it (meaning that I make sure that I’m still reading from my sixth chakra) and then pass it along. Nine times out of ten, it means something very important to the client.

When a reading goes wrong – fortunately a rarity but it happens – it’s generally because the psychic has interfered with the information coming through by either analysing it too much or by allowing themselves to read from somewhere other than their sixth chakra.

So there we go. I hope my response has done justice to this thought-provoking posting on psychics, their predjudices and readings!

With my readings I aim not just to be accurate but to guide my clients so that they are in a stronger position of knowledge and power after the reading than they were before it. If you’ve never had such a reading, then you owe it to yourself to book a reading with me. Check out my range of psychic services here. A reading with me could bring the answers, advice and insight that have been eluding you for far too long.

Next week I’m going to look at a topic that’s caused quite a stir in Britain’s psychic community. The longstanding Fraudulent Medium’s Act has been repealed and replaced by new consumer protection regulations. Does the new legislation make the psychic an easy target? Or is it all much ado about nothing? Find out what I think next week.

And finally this week over at IntuitiveBridges, I proudly announce the opening of my Healing Clinic! In these troubled times, I have decided that too many people who truly are in need of healing but who cannot afford to pay for it have no-one to whom they can turn. As such, I have decided to donate a percentage of my time and services free of charge. Read all about my new Healing Clinic here!

As always, feel free to email me with any comments, suggestions or feedback. And don’t forget to join me and the rest of the PsychicBridges community in the Psychic Chat forums!

Thanks again for all your support and until next week,

Kindest regards,

Alan
