Should psychics make political predictions?
Here's our topic — let's discuss in Psychic Chat!
I am often asked whether there is any area off limits to psychics – any topic that simply doesn’t lend itself to a reading. My first response is usually an emphatic No! And that’s true for the most part. Okay, some psychics are better with relationship issues. Others are more skilled at commercial or business transaction readings. If your question concerns your health or spirituality, then there are specialists out there for you.
Me, I see myself as something of an all-rounder. So when I get this question about whether there are any areas that I cannot read, I have to say that there aren’t. Well, not really, as people come to me with all sorts of questions from the profound to those that others might consider trivial. However, there’s one area that I tend to steer clear of – and that’s politics.
In my opinion, I have to say that I am not sure that psychics and politics should mix.
Now before considering whether they “should” mix, I have to consider whether they “can” mix. What I mean by that is whether psychics can do readings on political situations. And of course, the answer is yes, they can. It’s a different kind of reading than the kind of one-on-one reading we do for clients.
But just like clairvoyants get impressions on individuals, we get them on events affecting and taking place within society. Some of us can do it. Others of us struggle. The reason is that it requires the psychic to tune into something much bigger than most are used to. Again, it’s simply a different kind of reading.
Be that as it may that psychics can do political readings, I will return to the point of this week’s note, namely whether they should do them.
When a psychic works for a client, it forms a personal and oftentimes intimate relationship. What comes through is very specific and unique to that one person. It’s a private experience. Moreover, it’s an encounter that wouldn’t have occurred but for the client’s instigation.
Political readings, however, are, more often than not, a declaration by the psychic of clairvoyant insights to the public. This changes the dynamic considerably and without fail sets the psychic up for a fall. At that point the psychic becomes a talking point for amusement at best and a target of ridicule at worst. People begin to consider the psychic’s motivation – self-aggrandisement, publicity, etc.
To be sure, we live in a society in which some psychics have huge following. They tour nationally, and even internationally. They pull in audiences numbering the thousands. They have become celebrity superstars in their own right. As such, they have very loyal fans – who rightly or wrongly put a lot of faith in what their psychic says.
If the psychic makes a prediction favouring one party or candidate, I fear that some may be influenced. It’s as if the prediction could become something of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Will large numbers of the public be so influenced by what a psychic says? Perhaps not. But we just have to look at the last US presidential elections to see that the result hinged on just a few votes. Like they say, every vote counts.
So, it doesn’t exactly sit well with me when I see my colleagues coming out with their political predictions. And until I can put this unease at rest, you won’t be reading any insights here on who I see in the White House next year. This is one instance when I’ll just keep my impressions to myself.
Now that’s just me. No doubt many of you out there have an opinion on this or even on the upcoming elections themselves. I encourage you to weigh in and if you feel so inclined make a prediction for yourself. My Psychic Chat forum is open. I await your comments. Joining is easy. So as I say, grab a cup of coffee and let me hear from you.
Politics aside, I aim not just to be accurate but to guide my clients so that they are in a stronger position of knowledge and power after the reading than they were before it.
If you’ve never had such a reading, then you owe it to yourself to book a reading with me. Check out my range of psychic services here. A reading with me could bring the answers, advice and insight that have been eluding you for far too long.
And finally this week over at IntuitiveBridges, I ask whether you cherry pick your beliefs. Apparently, lots of policitians do when it comes to religion. Read what I have to say here!
As always, feel free to email me with any comments, suggestions or feedback on PsychicBridges!
Thanks again for all your support and until next week,
Kindest regards,
